Pastor Mike Emery- Lead Pastor
Pastor Mike is proud to be a native of San Diego. Before God called Mike to be the Senior Pastor of Sonrise Church in December of 2018, he spent almost eighteen years as an engineer, designing robotics for a pharmaceutical company and was a devout atheist. A friend invited him to Sonrise Church, where he received Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and he has never looked back. Pastor Mike thanks God every day for His grace and mercy, and for leading him to Sonrise.
Mike has five grown children, three with his first wife Anna, who went home to be with the Lord in 2017 after a long battle with cancer, and two through the blessing of his second marriage to his wife, Jen.
As Senior Pastor, Mike is the main teacher at our weekend services and provides directional leadership for our pastors, staff, and church. Mike has a passion for sharing the Word of God in a meaningful and easy to understand way and reaching Santee and beyond with the love of Jesus.
